Now, I don’t know who did it, but that was mean. Someone stepped on a crack- and broke mama’s back! Ouch! I was messing around with Ella in the kitchen last night and I tried to pick her up to swing her and broke my back! Okay, I don’t think its broken but it fucking hurts! I fell to the ground and haven’t been able to bend or move my back since! I am heading to the doctors here in a bit. Hopefully she gives me a bandaid in the shape of a pill.
PS: we had a super fun weekend. Since Matt and I are the worst picture documenters it will take a while for me to get the pictures together… but I will write about it soon with some doozies of some pics!
In AmeriCorps, I tutored a low reader class of fourth graders. One of my favorite little girls, Geneva, once gave me a picture she had drawn that said, “Miss Chrissy is 100% nice.”. I have had that on my fridge for 3 years. Basically, so Matt could remember the percentage of my niceness. It finally became so gross and torn up that I threw it away last week. While the words may not be there, at least the truth remains. Hehe.
I guess I may have become a Minnesotan? Yesterday, I was talking to my mom on the phone and she said it was cold in Kansas. In the fifties or sixties. I said, “Oh, it is so beautiful up here. I think its 70 or so.” I got home and looked at the temperature online and the high was 52 degrees. Holy crap, did I really mistake the weather by 20 degrees?
For over two years, Matt and me (and Heather for a couple months) have done cross train housing. For a mere 300 a month, regardless of how many people, 0-3, stay with us we keep beds available for employees of Matt’s job to come and learn from a different office. We have had really weird people. We have had really interesting people. We have had really annoying people, that I couldn’t wait to leave. We have had really cool people, that I missed when they were gone. We have had crazzzzzy stories to tell. We had a period of over two months were no one stayed with us, and the money was really nice along with peace and quiet. In exactly one week we will not be having cross train housing at our house. I CAN’T WAIT!! I’m so done with hearing people (regardless if I enjoy them or not) walking around my house in the middle of the night. We have had some REALLY annoying issues the last while with X-trains. Oh buddy. I will be a change without the extra money, but hotdog, I will figure out a way to live without that extra cash. I just want my house back. We have had four days since we moved into our house in June where there wasn’t someone staying with us. I think that might be my main motivator. I can’t even hang out in my basement because it’s occupied. I really really can’t wait. Can you tell I’m excited?
Busy Busy weekend. Got the oil changed on the car. Got groceries. Got gas. Got birthday present for Ella’s friend. Stop by work. Had a run-in with an abuser illegally present at shelter. Cleaned car. Got caught up on Heroes. Went out to eat with cousins, aunt and uncle. Cleaned basement bathroom. Took Ella to B-day party. Did laundry. Had mini-date with Matt at Mexican restaurant while Ella was at party. Went and bought Ella a new mattress at Ikea. Went and bought milk from store that I forgot the first time. Did dishes. Cleaned living room/dining room. Drove to suburb to pick up used bed frame for Ella. Passed out. Came to work to deal with broken appliances.
Whew. I’m tired. While my weekend was busy, I am really happy with Ella’s bed. We are going to set her up in a big kid twin size bed tonight. I probably shouldn’t have spent the extra money on a new mattress, but can you really put a price tag on fact that your kid gets to sleep in a bed that no one has ever peed in, had sex in, or placed bugs into. I mean… can you?
For the whole month of October, I am only going to eat apples dipped in caramel. Why the hell not.
I love caramel apples. Here are a couple other things I love.
- Smart water. I drink it lots. I think it tastes good, and maybe, just maybe I’ll turn smart.
- Comedians. I love stand up. The Comedians of Comedy is a really super funny DVD, they have a new one too. Laughing is cool.
- Black sparkly shoes. I bought them at Target and I wear them everyday. They are totally work appropriate.
- Magazines- nearly any magazine. They are one of my guilty pleasures.
- Lavender. I love it!! It is my signature scent! I even have a satchel of some dried lavender in my pillowcase! I have managed to keep a lavender plant alive in my house for two months. Lavender is not a houseplant so sometimes I feel kind of evil keeping this poor plant alive for my smelling entertainment.
- Fage greek yogurt with honey. Oh, its more than just yogurt- its a dessert. Mmmmm.
- Sudoku. Its my attempt to keep my brain sharp… except when I can’t figure out a puzzle and just quit. Then its my attempt at being a sore loser- which I’m good at.
- Black shirts. I have probably ten of them. I’m like the cheesy, non singing, totally uncool, girl version hack of Johnny Cash, the man in black.
Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
cause theres a million things to be
You know that there are
And if you want to live high, live high
And if you want to live low, live low
cause theres a million ways to go
You know that there are
Chorus:
You can do what you want
The opportunities on
And if you can find a new way
You can do it today
You can make it all true
And you can make it undo
You see ah ah ah
Its easy ah ah ah
You only need to know
Well if you want to say yes, say yes
And if you want to say no, say no
cause theres a million ways to go
You know that there are
And if you want to be me, be me
And if you want to be you, be you
cause theres a million things to do
You know that there are
Chorus
Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
cause theres a million things to be
You know that there are
You know that there are
You know that there are
You know that there are
You know that there are
The big fight tonight was that I made Ella wear pants under her Cinderella dress. That is her Halloween costume… she looks FREAKING ADORABLE!!! It was an all out screaming kicking huge fit kind of fight (her, not me). At one point she even got herself 5 minutes TIMEOUT for telling me I was being a brat. After about thirty minutes of this she gave me one last plea, “Mommy, you are not listening to me right.”, I guess because I wasn’t letting her have her way. I finally convinced her into pants. After dinner, Ella and me were dancing to the Cat Steven’s song above, and she looks at me and says, “Tomorrow, can I be what I want?”
Damnit Ella, how do you always get me like that. No more hippy, free wheeling songs for that kid.
Yesterday, I just finished working out and I was wearing a new tank top. Ella looked at me and said, “I like your new shirt Mommy. Your boobs wiggle alot… like Ursula.”
(Ursula is the huge evil sea witch from The Little Mermaid.)
My week has been a series of Little Momma Freak Outs Sessions about YeahYeah. She is fine though. Really. She has been to school twice this week and seems to be feeling fairly good. I just tend to freak out. I am taking her to the doctor this afternoon and hopefully I can get little peace-o mind. Honestly, that is all that has been going on. At least that I can write about. WINK. Oh, how I love being cryptic. Anywho- I’ll try to write tomorrow.
This weekend, all three of us were sick. Ella had this cough that she has had for two weeks and a sick tummy and a fever, I had a bad cough that made my chest hurt and Matt was just extremely run down. It was pretty awesome. On Monday I was feeling slightly better, Matt was feeling better and Ella wasn’t. So Matt took her to the doctor which led to a whole fiasco of a day. Initially the doctor thought Ella might have pneumonia, but she didn’t have an xray machine onsite so she sent us to the Children’s ER room. I’m a totally freaked out because my baby isn’t suppose to get sick! So the ER decides she doesn’t have pneumonia, which is great but her lungs and breathing are concerning. After 6 hours of hanging out in an ER room it is decided by the doctors that Ella has either early Asthma or Reactive Airway Disease. I don’t know, it is all very confusing. She is on a nebulizer and some steroids and we have an appointment later this week. I’ll keep everyone updated. She is fine though, she isn’t wheezing, her fever is gone and Matt and her are goofing off at home today. I think she will be at school tomorrow. That is the scoop, poop.
